As much as I liked the first season I have to say the second year blows it away. It's epic, like THE STAND.
At the end of season one Jeremiah was taken to the fabled Valhalla Sector and finds out that his father is still alive. In the first few episodes of Season Two he finds out what has been going on there. For the past fifteen years the military has been trying to get his father to duplicate the virus but he's managed to still this. Now that they have his son, Jeremiah, they now have some leverage against him.
In order to rescue Jeremiah and strike a blow against Valhalla sector, which is set on destroying Thunder Mountain, they use a secret weapon against them, which kills everyone with the virus. Jeremiah, his father and Libby, who manage to get into containment suits.
Jeremiah finds a love interest in Libby and they settle down in one of the nearby towns they've taken over and are trying to restore to some semblance of civilization. However, a new threat arises with a person called Daniel, who has a huge army on the East Coast. Basically if you don't join Daniel you are killed. When Libby is killed during an attack by Daniel's troops Jeremiah goes on a mission of revenge, targeting a masochistic guy named Sims.
The most interesting character introduced is Mister Smith (Sean Astin), who befriends Kurdy (Malcom-Jamal Warner). Smith insists that God speaks to him and gives him messages and this indeed seems to be true. He's both a very simple and very complex character and this character is one of the best performances I've seen by Astin.
During the season, which comes to a good conclusion for the series, we learn the truth about Libby, Sims and what Daniel really is.
If you enjoy post-Apocalyptic movies/tv series, I recommend you watching JEREMIAH.
