Crystina is a young nanny who gets fired from her job. As soon as she goes back to the office of "Nannies are Us", she gets hired as a nanny in Hawaii. But when she arrives, she discovers that she'll be nanny to a Rock Star's spoiled dog. At this hotel there's another family, two brothers and their younger sister. The brothers want to visit a volcano and mistakingly grab Crystina's basket, which contains the pooch. She goes after them and they all end up going into this strange island cave. She and the brothers get separated from the sister, who goes back to the surface. They continue downwards and end up in a huge underground cavern where there's a huge city. It's run by a government that wants to keep their inhabitants ignorant of the surface world. It's at this point that the movie veers off into a completely different direction and focus and becomes way too goofy. Crystina ends up with a guy named Nimrod and there's this strange, toothless woman who ends up with one of the brothers. This odd version of the Jules Verne novel is, I think, the most unsatisfying version. Even the 1992 TV movie is better than this.
