The first several episodes of this Hammer Film's TV series from the late 60's are every bit as good as the old TWILIGHT ZONES. In EVE, a department store worker falls in love with a mannequin, who is portrayed by Carol Lynley. Everyone sees her as a wooden figure but he sees her as alive. When he learns she's going to be destroyed and replaced by a newer model, he sneaks into the store and attempts to steal her, though he ends up killing his boss. He flees to a friend's house out in the country and takes the dummy with him, introducing her as his girlfriend. Of course, everyone thinks he's crazy—and he is.
In JANE BROWN'S BODY, Stephanie Powers is Jane Brown, a woman who is brought back to life by an experimental drug. A side effect is that she has no memory of her previous life and has to learn everything over again. The doctor and his wife end up caring for her, basically treating her like a daughter. She has to get the injection of the serum every day or else she'll die. She ends up falling for her tutor and starts to get flashes of her previous life, a life that had a tragic tale. The ending was totally unexpected, but it fit.
In THE INDIAN SPIRIT guide a rich woman hires a private investigator to protect her from phony spiritualists as she tries to contact her dead husband. Of course, things go unexpectedly. I also saw this same segment in the movie JOURNEY INTO MIDNIGHT, which was pieced together from episodes of this series.
This series also has one of the best opening title sequences for a horror anthology program.
