This is an interesting take on the serial killer sub-genre, about the creation of a physically violent FEMALE killer (usually female murderers are poisoners or child killers). The movie begins with Katiebird as an adult (Helen Udy) and a man she is involved with. As that story unfolds we go back and forth to a series of flashbacks, where we see Katiebird first as a child and then as a teenager (Taylor M. Dooley). It's soon revealed that her father is a serial murderer-and that he finds it absolutely normal to pass the legacy on to his offspring. In fact, in the most harrowing scenes, he coaches her when she makes her first kill on an Asian boy who she likes. Katiebird has a natural knack for this kind of killing and lives by her father's motto that you "have to uncover the truth", which translates to removing a person's flesh. My only gripe is that I much preferred Taylor M. Dooley as KATIEBIRD and this actress' performance far outshines that of Helene Udy. They should have made her appear older and kept her throughout the film.Although I at first found the style of the film irritating, with these multiple camera shots on the screen at the same time, it does successfully convey the disjointed personality of the character. KATIEBIRD is also a well thought out psychological profile of a profoundly disturbed individual, almost is if you're watching a twisted documentary. It's exactly what an indpendent horror movie should be-- creative! For more info on this movie check out www.katiebirdthemovie.com
