The movie begins with a psychologist talking to a patient who is being released. The patient was found guilty of killing his two friends. He was a mountain climber and had cut their rope in order to save his own life. The doctor wants to see him for regular visits and tells him he's going to write a chapter about him in his new book, all this while he's playing golf in front of the patient in his office.
Then we go to a group of college friends who are about to graduate. They drive to one of their parents' houses to bond for the weekend. But this celebration is cut short late that night when one of the girls is killed and hurled through a window. They others find a videotape of her given a choice between shooting her drunk, passed out boyfriend or killing herself. She tries to kill the intruder but he slits her throat, also shown on camera. Then he tells them that they all have a choice. They are to kill one another so there's only one survivor--and this must happen before 6am, within the next three hours. He tells them that if they try to escape he will kill them.
At first the friends balk at this idea, then the one who looks like a clone of Jared Padelecki decides to get things going when he drowns his stepsister and then kills the token fat guy. One by one they are eliminated. There's not a lot of special effects, mostly shootings and stabbings, though there is one amusing scene where a girl kills her boyfriend with a shovel.
This movie didn't live all that big impression with me, just another "SAW" wannabee. The idea is done much better in the movie THE KILLING GENE.
