the box art for this proudly proclaims "From a producer of DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR. But if you're going to rent this movie based on that glowing recommendation, don't. This movie is lame. Lame. Lame.
Three young guys from the Midwest move out to California with their bulldog and manage to get a great deal on a huge house in the Hollywood Hills, primarily because it's a portal to Hell. Of course, they don't notice all the demon fixtures in the house or all the upside-down crosses. And when they see the glowing fire bit in the basement it's not a worry. They are soon visited by a beautiful woman who claims to be a neighbor and she suggests they throw a party, which they do. And at the party people start to die. Some are sucked down into the pit, others are boiled alive in the hottub, et cetera.
Almost all of the jokes fall flat and it's a real effort to get through this stinker.
directed by Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund, who, in the DVD extras talks about this like it's an art film and how shooting it in HD is "the next step in filmmaking." Agggggh.
