A lonely blonde girl named Susan, who has a father for a funeral director/embalmer, keeps spiders for pets, much to the dismay of her uptight, cheating mother. Every time her mother finds her with an arachnid she steps on it. When the girl notices her mother on the phone and overhears that she's planning to leave with a guy she's having an affair with, she takes action. When her mother is sleeping she places a tarantula on her. She wakes up to see it crawling on her chest and has a heart attack. Then we skip a number of years, to when she's a young woman (Suzanne Ling) and has a whole collection of the giant spiders as pets. Her favorite is one she's named Jennifer.
One day her father goes out of town and she stays home and invites a boy over. Unfortunately a group of drunk teenagers pick this night to break into the funeral home. They start messing with her and even kill her favorite spider. However, she soon gets her revenge. The next night she follows their car to the neighborhood make out point and while they are busy making out opens the car door and releases several tarantulas. They are drunk and freak out once they see them and in the commotion three of the four teenagers are killed in the panic. The only one left alive is a girl, who remains catatonic. Susan feels guilty about her.
But Susan isn't quite done. One of her father's friends has a sexual interest in her and so she aims to take care of him as well.
This is an interesting character study and for some reason reminded me of THE LITTLE GIRL WHO LIVES DOWN THE LANE. Maybe because they are both sociopathic blondes.
