This pilot is one of the most entertaining cartoons I have ever seen. It's far into the future and mankind has fallen into barbarianism and huge monsters have appeared. Korgoth is a Conan-like character who is coerced by "the king of thieves" to steal a statue of "the Golden Gnome" from a diabolical wizard named Specules (pronounced like Hercules). Korgoth agrees to do this errand because he's been poisoned in the food he ate and he'll only get the antidote when he retrieves the statue. On the long Trek there he's accompanies by some henchmen, who are basically fodder for the mutants they encounter. One of these creatures is a carnivorous tree. And many others are killed when they try to ride giant pigeons to get to the wizard's floating castle. Although it appears that the wizard has been gone a long while, due to the pile of mail he has at his doorstep, he soon appears and starts killing more henchmen. To battle Korgoth he creates a hideous bubblegum monster, which the barbarian destroys in the most appropriate way-- by blowing it up.
It's really too bad that the Cartoon Network passed on making this a regular series. Highly recommended.
