This movie is about as far from Hollywood horror as it gets, no cookie cutter formulas here! Director Robin Garrels relies on strong imagery in lieu of storytelling, but in a good way. There is an evil entity within the woods surrounding an old house...when this evil enters the mind and body of Kyle, he snaps! Dragging his girlfriend Jessica into the dilapidated house, he then physically and mentally tortures her relentlessly...It would seem that there is no escape for Jessica, but the ghost of Kyle's mother appears and tells her own story of tortures and an untimely demise. With this backstory, Jessica finds the strength to overcome and escape the evil force. The movie combines the equal amounts of horror, blood, gore, and nudity with a unique style of bleak imagery that is hard to explain... but for fans of artistic, expressionistic horror, this movie is very well made and well worth seeing. The DVD from Sub Rosa Extreme is packed with extras including 2 shorts from Emily Haack and Jason Christ. A stills gallery & previews from other movies are included.
