Greek soldiers, led by Amphitryon, conquer the city of Argos for the gold. But his wife, Alcmene, isn't happy about her bloodthirsty, greedy husband, so she goes to pray at the Temple of Hera. The goddess answers, through a priestess, that she'll have another son. She gives birth and he suspects that the boy is not his. Twenty years later we see her son, Alcide, with the blonde princess of Crete. They are in love. Their secret rendezvous is interrupted by Herc's evil older brother, who is not happy to find them together.
Later, he and his sibling are attacked by the Nemean Lion, which he strangles with his bare hands. When they go back to the city the brother takes all the credit. And that night their father announces that this brother is to wed the Princess. Alcide and the girl decide to run away but they are caught. The father banishes him to Egypt where he's sold into slavery. It's at this time that the mother reveals that her younger son is the son of Zeus an that his real name is Hercules. Hercules becomes buddies with a warrior and they make their way back to Greece for a final showdown with the King. In an unintentionally funny scene he gets his powers from Zeus and goes crazy killing warriors with big stone blocks. It's sort of like THOR, but he's the hammer.
This flick has a lot of problems, the primary one being that this isn't the Hercules story. The only thing from the myth taken is the scene with the Nemean lion. The character in this movie is a wooden mama's boy with Shazam powers.
THE LEGEND OF HERCULES is Renny Harlin's worst movie, believe it or not.
