This Netflix series continues the story of Luke Cage from Netflix's JESSICA JONES series. After the events of that movie he's moved to Harlem and works at "Pop's Barbershop", trying to keep a low profile as he figures things out. We get to see his origin story and also find out a bit about his past when he was a cop named Carl Lucas. We also see his wife, who had something to do with the experiment he was involved with. The villains this time around are club owner Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes (Mahershala Ali) and his politically minded sister, Mariah Dillard. Bad things happen in his neighborhood so he chooses to interfere with their business, which provokes an extreme response. Also involved is police detective Misty Knight and Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), who is recovering from what happened in DAREDEVIL Season Two. What I found interesting is that there are actually three villains in this show, one of who doesn't appear until midway through, so the ending isn't exactly what you expect. Overall I enjoyed this series.
It's much more slow moving and involved with than both DAREDEVIL and JESSICA JONES, but the pace picks up at the end when he has to battle the augmented enemy from his past. Recommended.
