A Doctor, Jason Hunt (Billy Zane), goes on a vacation with his girlfriend, his teenaged daughter Amy and his daughter's boyfriend. From the beginning you know things aren't going to work out so well. The father and daughter don't get along and he's bending over backwards to please his shrewish significant other. They stop at a truck diner where a patron eats contaminated beef and transforms into a flesh eating zombie.
In the opening scene we're witness to a farmer cutting off pieces of diseased meat, which he takes to that very same diner. Of course, it's because of some growth hormone in the meat that has bad, zombie-inducing side effects.
The zombie effects are decent and I like the tongue-in-cheek tone of the script, though I think it's trying way too hard to be the original RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. In fact, the entire opening sequence has this music that sounds like it could be from that particular movie, music which doesn't fit this film whatsoever.
