The Cetacean and its crew from the Foundation for Oceanic Research is sent to recover a space probe that crashes in the ocean. Mark swims down to investigate it and sees strange lights, like colored discs. He's the only one that can see them. Then, one seems to sting him. When he returns to the ship he begins to behave like an asshole, which surprises Elizabeth and Miller. These aliens have possessed him-and soon they escape the facility and begin inhabiting other people. An unfortunate side-effect is that it also kills them. In the end, they learn that these aliens simply want to go back home, in outer space, so Mark has to get them aboard the rocket of another space probe, just in time.
The aliens here are a bit different than in THE DEATH SCOUTS. They possess humans, not duplicate them, and they have no desire to come back to this planet. I thought it a little odd that for a show dealing with a "Man from Atlantis" that the second and third movies deal with alien invaders, rather than some type of creature from the depths of the ocean.
