With the mainstream penetration of DVD, it seems director Jess Franco is more popular than ever! And along comes his most feature-packed disc to date, from Sub Rosa Studios. You will literally need an eight-hour shift to get through the entirety of this pup! And the 'hidden eggs' (animated menus with sound fx and dialogue!) make the experience all the more pleasant! Here's the extras: TWO letterboxed versions of the movie (including the European Version!), isolated music track (a nice, jazzy and upbeat score), Photo Galleries, A Short Film (about a group of bicycling women who are ripping out guy's genitals and wearing em around their necks!), Trailers, links, a NUDE commentary by star Linnea Quigley...and on and on it goes! Now, what about the movie, you ask? Well, MARI-COOKIE is a strange comedy with horrific overtones about a sheriff (Michelle Bauer) trying to trace down a strange spider creature (Lina Romay) who works out of a strip club. Most of the movie is typical Franco territory: hot strippers gyrating to the beat in clubs. The cast of lovelies includes Romay, Michelle Bauer, Linnea Quigley, and Amber Newman. How can you go wrong with the main cast of HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS?Bottom line is this: if you like Jess Franco films, you'll love this one. There's all his trademark fetish elements, lesbian scenes with all the main cast members, and an over-the-top tone to the proceedings. You go with the ride and enjoy. If you're not a fan of Franco, well, you probably wouldn't enjoy this flick. For this Franco fan, I was absolutely blown away!
