I think this was a two-part episode from the McCloud TV series in the 70's, released later as a movie. Here, McCloud is in New York City getting some training and is stuck investigating these weird deaths, where the victims are drained of blood. This piques the interest of his girlfriend reporter (Diana Mulduar), who is writing a book on vampires. Well, everyone thinks it's a modern day Dracula doing the killings, including the forensic guy. Coincidently (or is it?) an aging actor named Lorne Belasco (John Carradine), who had portrayed Dracula in numerous movies, is appearing on a local talk show, opposite that reporter. He stresses that he is a descendent of the real Dracula and that he has embraced his heritage. McCloud and his girlfriend do some investigating at Belasco's house-and see that he's obsessed with being a vampire. He even sleeps in a coffin. In the end he flees the police, with McCloud chasing him along the New York City rooftops. They end up at one of the bridges crossing the East River and Belasco jumps-saying he can fly. The only thing the authorities find of him is his Dracula cape. Everything is left rather vague-you think he's just an old kook sometimes, then you think he really is a vampire, reminding me of an episode of KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER. An amusing detour in the vampire mythos. Written by Glen Larson.
