Based on the novella by F. Paul Wilson (THE KEEP), who also co-scripted and has a cameo, is basically the world-wide zombie scenario using vampires instead of the living dead. It's sort of like Matheson's I AM LEGEND.Here, a young woman who is an atheist, travels on her bike to the next town to coerce her friend, Father Joe, to reclaim his former Church, which has been desecrated by vampires. The leader of these vampires used to be a priest. And the reason father Joe is no longer there is that everyone thought he had sexually abused some kid, when in truth it was this other priest. The eventually do go to the Church, clean it up and replace the cross, but the vampire's helpers, these Goth-looking people, come in and tear everything down so the vampires can return. There's this fight between the remaining humans in the community and these vampires.I found the movie a bit too preachy at times, though it was overall well-done. The majority of the infected vampires looked more like zombies, rather rotted-looking, though the vampire priest just had long fangs. I wasn't sure why he looked different from the others.I've seen worse vampire movies.
