This movie started promising, with a group of telekinetics, led by Michael Massee (THE CROW) hijacking an armored car. One of them gets caught by a sinister government agency run by Louis Gossett Jr. and is tortured. There's also two FBI agents, one of them a woman with a celebrity status (Teri Hatcher), who become involved between the two groups. And the main character, a college professor, wants to hide his mind-over-matter abilities. He's soon recruited though, by the government, to infiltrate the so-called bad guys. It turned out that the government did experiments in the 70's (under the code name MOMENTUM) to unlock man's ability to move objects by thought-and now they are trying to eliminate all these gifted individuals. The leader of the telekinetics is tired of living in fear, so he's established a community of these people-and wants to start acts of terrorism to prove their power. At first this movie was like SCANNERS but too many characters and lackluster plot diluted it so that it had anything but momentum.
