In 1957 a trio of naval researchers vanish in California's the Salton Sea. They soon turn up, however, missing all their bodily fluids. It seems that a recent earthquake has uncovered the eggs of a giant prehistoric mollusk and they are starting to feed. And now it's up to the navy to stop these monsters from reproducing by the thousands and destroying the earth! Whew! The giant monster is cool looking but doesn't have a wide range of movement, but it's always fun hearing that 50's sci-fi dialogue by all the stock characters. Perhaps the best giant snail movie I've ever seen...
