A group of oil riggers in Louisiana come across what looks like Star Trek's "The Guardian of Forever" and think it's an Indian Artifact. They call their boss, Stark (Robert Picardo of STAR TREK VOYAGER) and he tells them to blast it away to smithereens. So they do that. Yet it still stands--and then starts to glow. A huge wolf materializes out of its center and then proceeds to rip the dozen men to shreds.
Stark wants to put oil wells on the Native Americans' property and hires a half-Indian lawyer who looks like Jennifer Beals of FLASHDANCE. Her father turns out to be the police chief, no pun intended. She runs into her old boyrfriend (Jason London. Or maybe Jeremy London--I can't tell them apart) and they reconnect. Basically, the giant wolf attacks everyone who is trying to harm the indians. Through an animated flashback story we learn that the wolf used to be a warrior who had transformed into the creature. This movie was just okay. I think I was hoping more for a werewolf movie than I was a CGI wolf that looked more like The Tasmanian Devil from Bugs Bunny
