This fun, classick film from 1980 delivers both gore and laughs and is sure to please any fans of slasher films. You can call it a black comedy, horror comedy, or just a plain scare film, but Motel Hell's twisted lil' storyline and fun antics make for a hell of a good time. What's not to love about a twisted brother and sister killing off unsuspecting travelers and making fritters out of the meat? Once in a while, either of the two might sport a strange looking pig's head mask while wielding a very large chainsaw to dispatch victims. The Motel Hello, 'O' flickering on and off of course, works as a front to lure folks in for the real business. They don't kill 'em off right away either, most get planted and fed until they're fattened up for the slaughter. Yeah, it's a crazy premise, but the movie works on every level and even the comedy stuff plays well. I liked the swinger couple scene best for the comedy stuff, that was way too funny. Rory Calhoun and Nancy Parsons play the siblings to absolute perfection and really they make this movie. Maybe this flick was kind of parodying slasher films, it certainly stands on its own though. I doubt anyone that's seen it will forget it. Motel Hell offers an offbeat, creepy viewing experience, with enough funny to make anyone get into it. Remember the old tagline from the movie, 'It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent's Fritters'? Who'd eat something with an advertisement like that? You'll eat this one up though, trust me!
