This television movie was made fifteen years after the last season of THE MUNSTERS (1966). Everyone reprises their role except for Eddie and Marilyn (who would be too old). It succeeds in seeming like an extended episode, although it's not as entertaining as MUNSTER GO HOME, their theatrical movie. You also can't think too hard about the plot, which involves Sid Caesar as Doctor Diablo, who has created an army of robots (disguised as horror wax figures in a wax museum) to steal an Egyptian treasure that's on display. Herman and Grandpa are arrested by the police because two of the robots sighted are in their likeness. In order to prove their innocence they escape from jail and try to expose Diablo's plot. They end up going back to their homeland of Transylvania to retrieve a 'life-giving' potion, which they want to give to the mummy that's on display. This mummy, according to Diablo, is really his brother, which makes Diablo thousands of years old.In a side-story the police detective in charge of the case has an interest in Marilyn. Eddie is hardly included in the whole thing. Cousin Phantom of the Opera has a large role and Igor, their longtime family servant in Transylvania, has a small part.THE MUNSTERS REVENGE is interesting to see if you are a fan of the tv show.
