This biopic about serial killer Charlie Starkweather features a great cast, including Tim Roth (PLANET OF THE APES) as Starkweather, Fairuza Balk (THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU) as his girlfriend, Randy Quaid as a police investigator and Renee Zellweiger in a small cameo. There's even actor Roberts Blossom, who had portrayed a serial killer in DERANGED (basically the Ed Gein story).
The story follows Starkweather on his killing spree in the late 1950's and Roth gives a mesmerizing performance as the sociopath. The movie is worth checking out for this alone. As it's a made-for-television movie the violence is off-screen, yet it's still effective. If you're interested in serial killers this is worth checking out.
