Ellie Daly has an allergic reaction to some food and almost dies. She wakes up in the hospital and suddenly has the ability to see and converse with ghosts, as though they were living people. One spirit, a woman, wants her help--and it seems as if her husband had killed her. Then, Ellie runs into her husband and son, who are now going under different names. Did he kidnap the son and kill his wife? Or is something else going on?
Amy Acker (DOLLHOUSE, ANGEL) does a valiant job here as Ellie and I liked the story, in the sense that the ghosts here aren't telling the truth. They're as messed up as the living people. However, A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE comes off as a weak LIFETIME movie. There's not enough threat or conflict to it.
