I guess a remake is fine when most of the players involved were responsible for the first. That's the case here, except for Tom Savini directing. This one is pretty good, though I think the music for it pretty much sucks and just doesn't fit at all for some reason. Sure, it's a minor flaw, but I found it personally annoying. The changed plot elements make it interesting enough and Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman (shouldn't she be in a Phantasm film?) do a great job with their characters. The color didn't really add all that much to me and really this doesn't feel as creepy as the original at all. You cannot recreate a moment in time or a film from the past, that's life. Try as we might, no one can ever recapture that first time of anything. Guess that's why the new Night added some twists here and there, enough to make this an interesting footnote to the original. The black and white is what made this thing unsettling to me. The new Night is fun and interesting, but not really needed, the first did everything this one attempted to do better originally.
