This science-fiction TV pilot on Amazon prime is an odd one. A Scottish Chaplain, Peter (Richard Madden of GAME OF THRONES) agrees to go to the newly colonized planet, Oasis, on the urging of an old friend, who says his spiritual services are needed. But once he gets there he finds out he's not wanted by anyone at all and the entire group seems a bit hostile. He arrives during a bad dust storm and when it clears, the next day, we see that it is indeed an alien, desert planet, complete with a few moons. But it's weird that no one seems excited that they are on a new world, as it's explained that the overpopulation on Earth has made living very difficult. Peter also learns that people are seeing things-one woman sees her daughter, who is still on Earth, another sees his father. Ultimately, he goes out to the desert to find the missing man who originally sent for him-and discovers something completely unexpected.
OASIS is an intriguing show but it's completely without a sense of humor which makes it somewhat of a chore to sit through. I liked the idea of it, just not any of the characters.
