I think the people responsible for Octopus the 1st learned a bit from that film as this one is improved as far as screen time for the 'pus and action in general go. The FX here are better, still a lot of digital though. Luckily there are plenty of fake rubber tentacle attacks to laugh at. Some how a giant octopus or two has found a way into New York's east river. After several attacks and missing people, the harbor patrol gets suspicious. Of course, nobody believes our hero even after his eyewitness account of his partner getting eaten alive. That's pretty typical of most sea creature terror features, isn't it? Always a doubting mayor that won't close of the upcoming festivities whatever they may be. It's the 4th of July here and the harbor is soon to be filled with vessels. It becomes a race to not only prove there's big pussy in New York, but also to stop it. This movie has much more squirmy action than before and a nice straightforward plot. The best scene involves the hero guys' nightmare dream sequence with the giant octopus pulling the head off the statue of liberty, now that's crazy. You'll laugh at this movie with glee as the heroes try and win and the pussy stays very wet. Don't get me wrong, this ain't no classic, but it's entertaining. The kind of film you can sit back and have fun with making fun of. Maybe we can get a few more of these things and have a whole silly series of attacking octopi films. If they improve each time, why not?
