If you were expecting to see a killer shark flick with tons of action, then you were sorely disappointed. Open Water is NOT that kinda pic at all. Those in the know probably were still a bit bored; I know I was. This film captures the desolation and horror of being lost and left alone in the sea, not shark attacks, though that's part of it. I love the story, though I find it hard to believe the 'best looking couple' wouldn't be missed off that dive boat. What the couple suffers is very realistic, down to the pointless bickering and need for one another's company. The lead actress looks very hot in her nude scene coming barely 10 minutes into the film also. This film is the best example of a love it or hate it movie. Even those that love it will have to admit it's still boring, the idea of it far outweighing the execution. I will admit though, it had a gut punch of an ending that I did not see coming at all. This film leaves the viewer as down and sad as anything I have seen in a long time. I really expected some sappy feel good ending, missed it by a mile. I think most people will boo/hiss this film, but I enjoyed it even though it's slow. The night shots, shot during a thunderstorm, were really cool and really give the bleakness of the situation highlight. If you enjoy and sea faring activities, you won't wanna see this.
