A group of soldiers are subjected to an experimental drug which prevents them from sleeping. The goal is to see how long they can sustain this condition. In charge of the project is an evil doctor (Ron Perlman as yet another direct-to-video villian) who tries to hide the dangers of his creation from his bosses. When one of these soldiers dies, as if from an explosion a woman investigator is sent in by the army to figure out what happened. It turns out that most of these soldiers have seen apparitions they call 'Freaks'. Because they haven't been able to sleep their dreams and nightmares are coming through when they are awake. One soldier keeps on seeing a man in a wheelchair and soon he becomes paralyzed from the waist down. Another sees the Mafia boss and his cronnies that he turned in years before. Their nightmares are killing them. In the end one of the surviving soldiers really freaks out and tries to kill the others-and it's a battle between them until help arrives.
