A spaceship, on the way to a new Earth-like planet with 5000 colonists, runs into some trouble as it blasts its way through a cloud of asteroids. One passenger, Jim Preston (Chris Pratt of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY), awakens from deep sleep and is dismayed when he discovers the ship still has 90 years to go before it reaches the planet. He tries everything to get help, from going back into hibernation (it can't be done) to attempting to break into the command center, which is locked. After a year of being alone, with only an android barkeep for company, he decides to awaken another passenger. This is Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence), a writer. But he agonizes over it because he knows she'll eventually die on the ship as well...
PASSENGERS is an entertaining, engrossing movie, basically ROBINSON CRUSOE in space. The film has some great visuals, the ship is cool and there's a decent payoff at the end. Recommended.
