A Japanese Pop singer named Mima quits her successful singing group to pursue a career as an actress. But when she lands a role in a sexually explicit murder mystery she upsets one of her pop singer fans, who may be stalking her. He has created a website about Mima, even going so far as to create her day to day diary for all to read. As the movie progresses Mima starts having other problems--she misses being a pop star idol, hates having to do scenes like rap scenes for the movie. And soon she starts seeing 'Pop Star Mima' as another entity separate from herself. The line between reality and fantasy blurs, particularly when a scene happens--and then she awakens to experience a nearly identical scene all over again. Is she having a breakdown? Is her singing persona really becoming alive? The ending is surprising. Interesting story, plenty of blood and sex--and did I forget to say that this is an animated movie?
