Newlyweds Cliff and Cydney (Steve Zah and Milla Jovovich) go to the Hawaiian islands for their honeymoon. This is tainted with the news that there's a killer on the loose, which understandably freaks them out. They first run into Kale and Cleo on the drive through the jungle. They stop to give the hitchhikers a ride but Kale has an attitude problem, so they don't. But they run into them later and it's not the most comfortable confrontation. Cliff and Cyd also meet Nick and Gina, who they end up befriending and hanging out with. But when Cliff goes all "native" and kills a wild goat for their camping dinner and Gina expertly butchers it, they get very paranoid that these two may be the killers.
A PERFECT GETAWAY has lots of red herrings and suspense, though it's relatively bloodless until the end. Although this is a very clever movie I just knew who the killer couple were within the first half hour. Well, maybe it's because I've seen way too many movies. Nevertheless, David Twohy's thriller is definitely worth checking out because it will probably keep you guessing until the third act.
