This remake of the 1977 live action/animated Disney movie is quite a bit different than the original. I loved the premise-a five-year-old boy has been living in the woods for five years after his parents were killed in a car accident. How has he survived? He's had the help of a large, green furred dragon who he names "Elliott", after a character in a children's storybook.
The movie has some good actors and great special effects-but it's surprisingly flat and boring, I think because the story is sooooo simple and far too familiar. The most interesting character is the dragon-and he's CGI! This movie is vaguely like THE JUNGLE BOOK and KING KONG with the heart of neither.
