I believe this is the "official" sequel to the original movie (I think the producers want to forget about PUMPKINHEAD 2: BLOODWINGS (1994)), taking place at least twenty-years after the events of that film. The main character is one of the grown-up mountain kids who works for an evil doctor (Doug Bradley) who harvests body parts. He's the one who ends up having to bury the bodies out in the woods. He's also visited by Ed Harley's (Lance Henriksen) ghost, who warns him that something bad is going to happen.
After the townsfolk discover that there's been grave robbing going on, several of them make a pact and resurrect the Pumpkinhead demon to get revenge and kill those responsible for the atrocity. Of course, everytime the monster kills someone they all feel it. And, if one of the humans it's bonded to is killed the creature is weakened.
In the first movie Ed Harley had a very good reason to get revenge on the people who killed his son - he was enraged and did a rash thing. Here, though, the reason for the revenge isn't great enough (for not cremating bodies?) and too many people are involved. It's just not enough cause for such a revenge.
The Pumpkinhead creature looks good, though a bit smaller than in the first movie, but the computer generated effects of it climbing around simply don't work. This is also yet another horror movie shot in Romania - and the local doesn't quite double as rural America.
If you're a fan of the first PUMPKINHEAD you are bound to be disappointed.
