This second QUATERMASS movie makes the main character a much more likable person, primarily because he's more involved with the action of the story and has some concern about other people. It begins with the Professor nearly crashing into a young couple on the road. He stops and sees the guy is burned, presumably by some weird rock. He takes a sample back to his lab. They also identify that these strange meteors have been coming down all over the country, so Quatermass investigates. He finds a secret government facility run by zombie-like minions and is chased off. When he manages to get into the area with a government official he finds out that this is really part of an invasion that's been going on for two years, from an asteroid that's in orbit around the moon. They are manufacturing the alien atmosphere at the plant and growing the aliens in these huge 200 foot tall spheres...
The movie does have a gooey monster, as in the first film, but is much more action-packed and serious. It's very similar to INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1956), which was released the year before.
also known as ENEMY FROM SPACE.
