This has enough violence for a dozen recent horror movies. We see people explode, people set on fire with torch guns and lots of beheadings and more people exploding like flesh water balloons.
The simple story is about a group of Christian missionaries who hire Rambo's boat to take them upriver, to dangerous Burma, where locals are being slaughtered by the corrupt military. The one person Rambo connects with is the only woman, Sarah (Julie Benz of DEXTER, SAW V, PUNISHER WARZONE). Weeks after he drops them off he finds out that they are all missing. So, he joins the group of mercenaries hired by their church to get them back-- and the carnage ensues. And I mean carnage. I couldn't keep track of how many people die in this movie.
In tone, this is probably much closer to the original FIRST BLOOD than the two RAMBO sequels and the way the movie ends I'm sure there'll be another movie down the line, though I suspect he may be shooting his machine-gun from a wheelchair, as Stallone is no spring chicken.
Co-written & directed by Sylvester Stallone.
