Rana was made by Bill Rebane who also did Giant Spider Invasion, I love that thing! This was also shot in Wisconsin and might be the best or worst rubber monster suit movie the state has had to offer thus far depending on your view and sobriety upon viewing. Rana it seems is the god of this here lake and is some kinda frog-man type of thing. He was worshipped by the Indians and such once upon. The movie tells of some bad monster encounters a young boy endured as a child and kinda runs from past to present. Mostly, we see a lot of green rubber-clawed hands grabbing people, pushing their skulls into trees, and being chopped with an axe. Poor Frogger! The suit, uh I mean creature, is laughably bad, adding to the fun of this picture show. Rana's a lot of fun, more so drunk I imagine. I don't dig this as much as Giant Spider Invasion, but it's quirky enough to give you a good time. The old trapper is a cool character and makes the movie when he's on. It has that special drive-in type of feel you don find any more these days, probably cause there aren't many drive-in's or wild movies like this locally bred mess anymore. Gives new scariness to bullfrogs!
