This is the original Spanish film which was remade as QUARANTINE. The movie is virtually identical to the American film and has all the same key images. But, this film is much more intense, primarily because it has more of an authentic documentary feel about it. The rawness lends itself to believability that this is a television crew, rather than seeming like a Hollywood movie that is trying to do so. Also, the actress is cuter and not angst ridden.
The biggest difference is that the ending as to the source of the rabies-like outbreak stems from an enzyme from a demonically possessed girl, which is far creepier than a case of mega-rabies. Unfortunately that girl was locked into the room of the apartment building and when we finally see her she's quite horrendous looking.
If you haven't seen QUARANTINE and are thinking of renting it, don't. Watch this superior original instead.
