A group of friends from London go on a weekend boating trip in the country but soon become lost in the reeds when they decide to follow another boat and take a detour. There's also this gang of punks who creeped them out before the trip--and they seem to be following them for some mysterious reason. When night falls they become stuck when a piece of metal punctures the boat's hull--and shish-kebabs one of the men. They manage to cut the metal shard from the floor with a hacksaw and move him. Yet, if they don't get him to a hospital soon he's done for. So one of the other guys runs out onto the reeds towards a source of light he sees in the distance, hoping they can be of assistance. He's wrong, as he sees it's that same group of punks. But they aren't the main danger. There's a hooded figure who is out hunting them with a shotgun.
The guy punctured guy dies and the boat is attacked. In the confusion a fire is started and two of them are blown to bits. One of the other women, who dived overboard, has her head above water and is horribly burned. Now, this leaves the third woman and the third guy to try to survive. Who are those mysterious kids? And why is that hooded man trying to shoot them all?
First, this film has a great location. It's isolated, visually interesting and is a great place to place a horror story. It also consists of some not so typical characters (no stupid college kids here). The special effects, while minimal, are quite effective when they do happen, especially the black eyes. While it's vaguely like an Asian ghost story, in terms of vengeful spirits, is also a lot like the 80's classic, NOMADS.
