R.E. is a fun, thrill ride film, but I don't really see what all the hype was about over this thing. Sorry to burst some of your bubbles, but this ain't no Dawn of the Dead for a new millennium. Aside from the fact that it has zombies in it, it's not that good of a zombie film. Evil is too tame in that department. It's really fairly bloodless, the best scenes coming from the security slicer beam thing that dices up some soldiers and the licky monster at the end. Other than that (and the zombies), Resident felt more like an action adventure opus than a horror film. Don't get me totally wrong, it's a good movie, as slick as anything else H-wood can turn out presently. The flashy editing will keep even the most attention challenged interested. I don't feel it's the next great zombie film or cult film like some have proclaimed. The game (especially the original) has more of the feel of true horror. Perhaps someone should have played it and remembered.
