Vaguely based on the story by Stephen King, Larry Cohen's Sequel has similar elements from the first movie, though goes in an entirely different direction with the vampires. Casting against type, Michael Moriarity is a hard, explorer type who goes back to the States to reconnect with his son. They go to a small town in Maine where he grew up but the town is inhabited by the vampires.
Rather than being transformed humans, they are more a separate species and breed with the humans to produce passive slave-servants who protect them during the day. There's a leader vampire, who transforms into a Nosferatu-type creature when he transforms (very rubbery looking, though) and in the end there's the obligatory fire that kills them.
The movie is not nearly as entertaining as Cohen's movie, Q.
