Michael Vartan (ALIAS) portrays travel reporter named Pete McKell who takes the wrong tour in the Australian outback. He's on board a small tour boat with a group of Americans and Australians and the "captain" is blonde Kate Ryan (Radha Mitchell of PITCH BLACK)
As they are on their way back from crocodile watching they see a flare and go to check it out. What they find is the tip of a sunken boat in the water and then their boat is rammed by a huge saltwater crocodile. This thing must be 35 feet long. As they are on a river with high cliffs on either side, they take refuge on a nearby island. But the river rises with the tide and as it gets darker the water rises.
What's creepy is that although the creature is huge it kills the first few people in utter silence. One minute they are there, the next they are gone and we see the water rippling where the monster dived back in.
This is similar to BLACKWATER but a bit more fantastical, with Hollywood actors and a bigger budget. It has some of the most realistic CGI of a crocodile I've seen and is worth checking out for this alone.
