In the first two episodes, END OF NIGHTS, Magnus' daughter, Ashley (Emilie Ullerup), is controlled by the evil organization, The Cabal. They've brainwashed her and basically transformed her and others into indestructible vampires. Ashley is killed, which is surprising. Yes, really honest to gosh killed. She's replaced by new character Kate Freelander (Agam Darshi), who is a freelance thief, and wants to steal valuable items from The Sanctuary so she can sell them to the highest bidder. She's injured in an early episode of the season and recovers at the complex, eventually choosing to be on "the good guy's" side. She's cute and all but no Ashley.
Assistant Henry comes to terms with dealing with his lycanthropy, John Druitt, the real-life Jack the Ripper and father of Ashley, is able to control his murderous urges for a while. Bigfoot, Dr. Magnus's right hand man in the Sanctuary, gets infected and chooses to die, since his belief system is sort of like that of a Jehovah's Witness. The last two episodes are about "Big Bertha", the largest and most dangerous abnormal. She's a huge spider than lives at the bottom of the ocean and she can control earth's magnetic field and move the crust's tectonic plates. However, she's included by a human connection, an individual who has a small spider-like creature called a Macri inside of them. When the original host is killed Will Zimmerman takes in the creature, with unexpected results. While all this is going on, the power hungry member of the Sanctuary Network who wants Magnus' job, starts bombing the giant spider with depth charges. This causes her to set off some huge tidal waves, which race towards the coasts. I'm looking forward to how they're getting out of this predicament in Season 3. This show gets better and better.
