Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery of DEAD ZONE tv series, POWDER) is famous. He's survived being kidnapped by Jigsaw years before and has written a self-help book about it. He's rich and has a new wife (Gina Holden of JULES VERNES' MYSTERIOUS ISLAND) who believes his cause of self-improvement through adversity. He even attends Jigsaw survivor support group. However, when he goes to one which is being videotaped Doctor Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) shows up. You see, he actually survived the first movie. He knows Dagen is full of crap because, you see, Dagen has made up the entire story. This gets him in trouble and he's kidnapped, along with his entourage. In order to save his wife from being burned to death in a kiln he has to try to save his associates one by one. It's harrowing.
The main detective this time is Det. Matt Gibson, who has had some run ins with Detective Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor), who is Jigsaw's assistant. When Jigsaw's wife comes to him, telling of Hoffman's guilt in all these murders, he puts her in a safehouse and tries to protect her. Let's just say things go horribly out of control
I think this may be the goriest SAW movie of them all. I saw this in 2-D and can only imagine the 3-D was very effective. I really liked this seventh movie. It brings in a completely new story line, manages to bring Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) back in an interesting flashback, and concludes what happens to Jigsaw's wife (Betsy Russell) and has an unexpected but fitting twist that puts a whole different light on the entire SAW series. Recommended.
