An asteroid is going to hit earth, destroying all life on the planet. After his wife abruptly leaves him, rather than spend her last days with him, a man named Dodge (Steve Carrell) goes on a road trip to reunite with his high school sweet heart, who he believes is the love of his life. He's accompanied by Penny (Keira Knightley), his next door neighbor who has nowhere to go, since her family is in England and she's missed all the last flights. They encounter a lot of weird characters, including the staff at a Friendly's who are too friendly. Eventually, Dodge realizes he's in love with his new travel companion. Not exactly a comedy, it's along the lines of the Canadian movie Last Day.
