Around the world biblical prophecies regarding the end of the world start happening, from an ancient desert town freezing to fish boiling in the ocean.Demi Moore pregnant with a child that will be born without a soul. You see, there's this place called The Guff, where all souls come from-and when it is depleted of souls it'll be the end of the world. A strange visitor (Jurgen Prochnow) rents out their small above-garage apartment-and he's there to keep an eye on her. Turns out that he's Jesus. There's also a priest, who is really the Roman soldier cursed with immortality until the end of the world happens-so he's ecstatic about this and is doing everything he can to make sure it happens. Everything comes to a head when she starts going into labor, during a massive earthquake that's shaking the hospital apart-and she gives up her life to save that of her child-who now has a soul because of her sacrifice. As end of the world movies go this is rather hokey and the Demi Moore character is rather irritating in her obliviousness.
