Eric "In every other SyFy movie" Roberts portrays a scientist who has developed a new weapon for the Navy. This is a huge and unlikely shark/octopus hybrid! When they are testing it, via a remote control device hooked to its brain, the Navy commander asks them to push it to its limits and, of course, this damages the control system. The monster breaks free. The commander then exclaims "You let an eight-legged man-eating freak loose", to which Roberts replies "A minor setback". Well, you get the idea.
Eric hires a former employee to track down the creature, though this guy doesn't seem to have any more skills than anyone else in this movie.
The sharktopus begins eating tourists along the beaches, my favorite a female bunjee jumper who gets snapped up in mid-air. Oh, and the creature can crawl onto land. It's really goofy looking when it does this, reminding me of the title character from the JABBERJAW cartoon from the 70's. What is next in this lame new sub-genre of killer animal movies? SHARKORILLA?
