As with SPIDERMAN 3 I was disappointed by this "Summer Blockbuster" of '07. It's much more serious than its predecessors, only about 20% as funny as either of them. I think a lot of this had to do with the subject matter - Shrek and Fiona having children. This is also a sign that a series is indeed ending, as anything the main characters have a kid - from X-FILES to ANGEL to ALIAS - it's a downhill slump for the characters and situations.
There's also a sub-plot in which the Donkey and Puss-in-boots swap bodies, which is not very funny, and Prince Charming recruiting all the kingdom's villains to take over FAR FAR AWAY.
