One day young mother Cora Tannetti (Jessica Biel) brutally attacks a stranger on a public beach with a knife. She's arrested for the crime. When she's asked by the investigating detective, Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) she's unable to give him an answer because she doesn't know why. Meanwhile, her husband Mason (Christopher Abbott) is completely stunned about it because it's completely unlike her to do such a thing.
All this doesn't seem right to Harry, so he begins an investigation that leads to local drug pusher J.D (Jacob Pitts). It seems that Cora was in a drug rehab facility years before and she assumed she was an addict, though she has no memory of a few missing months of her life. What happened to her? Eventually all is explained through a series of flashbacks, particularly with her family and dying sister. And by the end of the last episode of this mini-series all the questions are answered—and the twist is great.. This show reminded me a lot of A KILLING IN A SMALL TOWN (1990), a television movie starring Barbara Hershey who chopped her best friend up with an axe. Highly recommended.
