A deer hunter is interrupted from shooting a deer when a nearby branch snaps. He goes to investigate and finds this creature feeding. He takes out his camera and starts taking pictures before it runs off. What he has seen is soon known as 'The Snake Man'. He's invited on a local cable access talk show, where the host demeans him by saying he made everything up because he wants attention. Some other hunters, who are also pot-heads, decide that it might be a good idea to try to find this Snake man so they travel up to the area where he was sited. One of them accidentely shoots a young woman.Another of the hunters wants to kill her because he's likely to go to prison for a long time if he's involved in such an incident. The Snake man, who has seen the whole thing happen, comes in and rescues her with his superhuman speed. He takes her back to his cave and sees that he must do something to repair her fatal wound. He bites off a piece of his flesh and puts it on her wound, where it is absorbed. She wakes up and is terrified of him. She also discovers that her skin is starting to become reptilian-like where he had patched her wound. During a flashback sequence he explains how he transformed into the monster-that he was once a human and was exposed to an illegal lab experiment. She comes to trust him and she eventually transforms into a similar creature, though she can also change back to her original appearance. There's a revenge sequence where they deal with the poachers who shot her, which just seemed a little weird since the Snake Man's goal is to just live alone, in peace. It's good to see Andy Kumpon and Wayne Spitzer (MONSTERSDOTCOM) together in a movie again, and I dug the Snake Man costume (it looks like the lizard aliens in 'V'), though it was painted too bright green. But the entire movie takes place in the Fall, in the Pacific Northwest, where the Snake Man would be hibernating in the 40 degree weather, not walking around. To be honest, this is my least favorite Ron Ford movie, I think because it's not as polished or entertaining as his previous flicks. Where's Randal Malone when you need him?
