The series revolved around maverick detective Jack Breslin (Joe Cortese), who has paired with the alien T'ara (Maryam D'abo) to solve crimes. Some of these involve your standard serial killer while others have a more supernatural tone to them. Unfortunately, this short-lived television series didn't work on several levels…
Foremost is that there's no chemistry between the two actors, Joe Cortese and Mary'am Dabo. She lives with him but he treats her mostly like a sister and their relationship remains vague. He's also about twenty years older than her. The series also has the worst title sequence I have ever seen, presenting a sort of humorous "film noirish" intro along the lines of MOONLIGHTING or HART TO HART. They changed this intro midway through the series, by episode #5, to one with a much more sci-fi feel to it, showing the spaceship and action. The last episode is the best, with them coming upon a town taken over by an alien energy stone, which has transformed one of the citizens into a creature, which reminded me of the alien from LASERBLAST. If the series had started with this type of scenario I'm sure it would have lasted more than eight episodes.
